Community Guidelines
SHOP TALK MAINE
Code of Conduct
Shop Talk Maine is a welcoming, laid-back space for professionals connected to Maine’s manufacturing community to connect, share ideas, and support one another. The community includes both a Slack workspace and a virtual meetup. To keep both productive and respectful, we ask all members to follow these guidelines.
1. Be Respectful and Professional
Treat everyone with respect. Harassment, discrimination, personal attacks, or inappropriate language will not be tolerated. Disagreements are natural—handle them constructively and professionally.
2. Keep It Relevant
Please keep conversations aligned with Maine manufacturing, operations, leadership, technology, workforce development, and related topics. Off-topic posts should be limited and posted in the appropriate channels.
3. No Spam or Excessive Promotion
This is not a sales community.
Sharing relevant tools, resources, or events is welcome when it adds value.
Repeated self-promotion, unsolicited pitches, or spammy behavior is not allowed.
4. Respect Confidentiality
Do not share confidential, proprietary, or sensitive information—yours or anyone else’s. What’s shared in Shop Talk Maine should stay within the community unless explicitly stated otherwise.
5. Be Inclusive and Welcoming
Shop Talk Maine includes members from companies of all sizes, roles, and experience levels. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable participating.
6. Use Slack Channels Thoughtfully
Post in the most appropriate channel to keep conversations organized and easy to follow. If you’re unsure where something belongs, ask a moderator.
7. Moderation and Enforcement
Shop Talk Maine moderators reserve the right to remove content or members that violate this Code of Conduct. Repeated or serious violations may result in removal from the community.
8. Help Us Keep It Great
If you see behavior that doesn’t align with these guidelines, please notify Jackie Macomber via DM or email.
We’re glad you’re here and appreciate your help in making Shop Talk Maine a supportive, valuable space for Maine’s manufacturing community.
